This detached, 750 square foot garage on a large lot in West Seattle gave the owners much needed storage space, an artist’s studio, a bike shop, as well as shelter for their two cars.

META Architects maximized the lot’s open space by positioning the garage as close to the alley and side property lines as zoning codes allowed. The scale and proportion of the building were designed to harmonize with the existing 1950’s style house on the lot. French doors and numerous windows provide ample daylighting for these utilitarian spaces, while affording the opportunity to keep an eye on the children playing in the backyard.
