SEATTLE CRAFTSMAN WEST SEATTLE, 2008-2009 The remodel and second floor addition to this 1908 craftsman is a respectful addition to the original house, and an improvement to an awkward addition that was completed in the 1980’s. The client desired that the new design look as if it was part of the original house. First floor spaces were rearranged to provide a larger, more efficient kitchen with more natural light, that opens to the adjacent living room. A space-wasting hot tub was removed at the first floor bath to create room for a new laundry/utility room. The new second floor space provides two larger kids’ bedrooms, a play room, and a second full bath to accommodate a growing family. The original single gable roof with shed dormers was extended the full length of the house to bring the addition into harmony with the original house. "Thanks for the well-thought out, high quality design. I am quite pleased with the layout, and very impressed with the seamless integration with the rest of the house." - Client |
